Reflecting on our journey together

As my term as your President ends, I want to take a moment to reflect on our shared journey and express my deepest gratitude. Serving this incredible community of medical professionals has been an immense privilege. Thank you for your unwavering support, your vocal advocacy and your everyday dedication to the health and wellbeing of Queenslanders.
Together, we have navigated and will continue to navigate the challenges of our complex health system. Over this past term, we have fought hard for MBS reforms and pushed for adequate public hospital funding to support the workforce. We have also consistently highlighted the need to strengthen our medical training pipeline and importance of General Practice sustainability. We must continue to address and prioritise workplace psychological safety, laying the groundwork for a healthier, more supported workforce across the state.
I must extend my heartfelt thanks to the AMA Queensland Board Chair Dr Eleanor Chew, Vice President Dr Emilia Dauway and our small operational team led by CEO Dr Brett Dale. Your tireless behind-the-scenes work, expertise and commitment are the engine that keeps our association moving forward. Our collective achievements in these advocacy areas simply would not have been possible without your incredible efforts and resilience.
As I finish, I am absolutely delighted to welcome our incoming President, Associate Professor Erica Gannon. Erica brings a wealth of experience, passion, and strong leadership to this role, and I know AMA Queensland is in outstanding hands. I also want to warmly welcome our newly elected Vice President and Chair of Council, Dr Sarah Coll, and our new board and council members. Your fresh perspectives and dedication will be vital as we continue to advocate for our profession.
Thank you once again for the honour of representing you. I look forward to supporting Erica and the new team as an active member alongside all of you and I remain incredibly excited for the future of AMA Queensland.
Warm regards,
Dr Nick Yim
